A Poteau woman has been arrested on a first-degree murder complaint after her husband was found dead early Sunday, according to a news release from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
Poteau police requested OSBI assistance Sunday to investigate a suspicious death. Officers had responded to a residence in the 200 block of South Earl Street around 12:42 a.m. for a welfare check, where they found 53-year-old Kirk Plepla dead of an apparent gunshot wound, according to the release.
Poteau police detectives and OSBI special agents processed the scene together. Investigators determined that Kirk Plepla’s wife, 53-year-old Mollie Plepla, shot and killed him, the release states.
Mollie Plepla was arrested and booked into the LeFlore County Jail on a first-degree murder complaint. The investigation remains ongoing. OSBI credited the Poteau Police Department and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for their continued assistance.
Charges are merely an accusation, and the accused is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
