Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

A hot, sunny week is ahead for LeFlore County with no rain relief in sight until at least the holiday weekend. Current conditions at Heavener show clear skies and 80 degrees as of early morning, with south winds at 11 mph and gusts up to 33 mph already.

Today, Monday, June 29 — Sunny and hot. High near 97. South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts possible. Tonight stays warm with a low around 79.

Tuesday, June 30 — Sunny and hot. High near 97. South winds continuing with gusts up to 25 mph. No rain chance.

Wednesday, July 1 — More of the same. Sunny, with a high near 97. Dry south wind persists. Low around 79.

Thursday, July 2 — Sunny and hot with a slight 20 percent rain chance late in the day. High near 98. This is the best opportunity for any relief heading into the long holiday weekend, but don’t count on it.

July 4th weekend outlook — Hot and mostly dry conditions are expected through Independence Day. With temperatures hovering near 97 to 98 degrees and high humidity, heat index values will push well above 100 degrees during peak afternoon hours. If you’re planning to attend any outdoor July 4th celebrations, drink plenty of water, find shade during the afternoon, and check on elderly neighbors and pets.

Stay cool out there. Check back daily for updated forecasts.
