Hot and dry conditions continue across LeFlore County to start the week, with a slight chance of rain creeping in by the Fourth of July weekend.

Today (Tuesday): Sunny and hot, with a high near 94 degrees. No rain expected.

Wednesday: Sunny again, with a high around 94 degrees. Dry conditions continue.

Thursday: Mostly sunny with a high near 94 degrees. A 25 percent chance of rain develops, mainly later in the day.

Friday: Highs ease slightly to around 91 degrees, with a 20 percent chance of rain.

Saturday, July 4: Partly cloudy with a high near 93 degrees and a 40 percent chance of rain. Anyone heading to Independence Day celebrations in downtown Poteau or other county events should keep an eye on the sky, as afternoon and evening storm chances are higher than earlier in the week.

Residents are reminded to stay hydrated and limit prolonged outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat through midweek.
